Malaysia of Climate
Malaysia is situated seven degrees north of the equator in Southeast Asia, mainly covered by Tropical Rain Forest (according to the latest new: about 70%) and is drained by an abundance of rivers, many of which (especially those in the East Coast of Peninsular) are subject to flooding during the rainy seasons. Climate of Malaysia is tropical rain and its temperatures is around 24 to 34 deg C throughout the year. Humidity of air is 70-90%.

Tropical climate means heat and humidity, but it is not as bad as some people think. A very hot summer day in Germany can be more unbareable than the hotest day in Malaysia. The temperature is almost the same throughout the year, that's why there are no climate changes for the human body in Malaysia as we have it in Germany. Just in the Highlands (e.g. Cameron Highlands) are day temperatures about 20 to 25 deg C, at night the temperature falls to 15 to 18 deg C, sometimes even deeper. A chat at the fireside at night is really appreciated with this temperature!

There are no seasons like in Europe as Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, but therefore we have in Malaysia seasons like Durian-Season, Mango-Season!

In general there are 2 seasons in Malaysia: Rainy-Season and Non-Rainy-Season. But as everywhere in the world, the climate is also changing here. That's why it is not easy to say, when exactly these seasons are and the job of a meteorologist is in Malaysia not a popular one.

The climate is affected and determined by 2 monsoons: The North-East Monsoon from the South China Sea affects especiall the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia in December until February and the South-West Monsoon, which brings rain during the months April/May and September/October or better: usually it brings rain!

Very less rain is usually in the months January/February in the North-West of Peninsular Malaysia which the North-East Monsoon can not reach. To talk about 'Rainy -Season' at the West Coast means not rain throughout the whole day. The daily rain comes mostly in the late afternoon, at night or in the morning in accompany with thunderstorm and pours down heavy, but usually short. Afterwards the sky is clear with fresh air, but without much cooling. If it rains at one spot, there might be not one drop just one kilometre further!

The part around Kuala Lumpur is neither affected by a distinctive Rainy-Season nor a Dry-Season. But sometimes heavy rainfall can flood the streets. Some streets are then impassable at times and are about a good metre under water!

The South of Peninsular Malaysia has the same consistent climate as Singapore: No Rainy-Season and no Dry-Season.
